Colonel Carl Jeffrey Worthington is the Director for Command, Control, Communications and Computer (C4) Systems, for the Join Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He directs the activities of a joint staff of 430 military, civilian, and contractor personnel responsible for C4 systems support to Special Operations Forces (SOF) worldwide, and manages the programs and efforts for C4 systems with an annual budget of over $364 million. He orchestrates and advocates research, development, and acquisition of new warfighting C4 systems for the SOF community. Before arriving as the JSOC J6, Col. Worthington commanded the 2d Theater Signal Brigade in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Col. Worthington was born in Lima, Pennsylvania in 1969. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1991 as a Distinguished Military Graduate, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry.
Following the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Col. Worthington's assignments include postings with the 82d Airborne Division and the 35th Signal Brigadeas a Platoon Leader, Logistics Officer, Commander, Executive Officer, and Battalion Communications Officer. He then moved to Hunter Army Airfield, GA to serve as the Battalion S6 within the 160th Speical Operations Aviation Regiment, followed by another assignment to Fort Bragg as the J3 Joint Communications Unit. Following this, he served in the White House Communications Agency. In 2010, Col. Worthington assumed Command of 2d Squadron, Joint Communications Support Element, MacDill AFB, FL, until 2013, when he began serving on the CENTCOM J6 staff. Upon graduation from the National Defense University's Eisenhower School, Col. Worthington deployed to Kuwait to serve as teh ACoS, G3, for the 335th Signal Command (Theater)(Provisional).
Col. Worthington and his wife, the former Judy Lynn Johnson of Atlanta, GA, have two sons, Timothy and Jonathan.
