Tim has served as Chief Technology Officer since 2017. Prior to joining Splunk, he spent 14 years at Yahoo in various roles, including leading engineering for the Media Organization, where his teams developed leading brands such as Yahoo.com, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Fantasy, Tumblr, Huffington Post and Flurry. He previously served as Yahoo’s Chief Data Architect, where he led architecture across all data teams and developed much of that stack as well. Before that, Tim served as a Member of Technical Staff at Sun Microsystems in the JavaSoft team. Tim holds an M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. from the University of California, Davis.

3x Founder. Currently running Product Management for Splunk's Observability Products. I joined Splunk with the acquisition of Omnition. I was the CEO and Founder of Omnition. We built the first distributed tracing platform that could handle 100% of the traces an application can produce at any scale. Previously I started and ran Pattern Insight until selling it to VMware in 2012 (now https://www.vmware.com/products/vrealize-log-insight.html) and ezhome which I run until after Series B (summer of 2017). I started Pattern Insight after dropping out from a Computer Science PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Karthik Ramasamy is a Sr. Director, Engineering managing the Pulsar team at Splunk. Before Splunk, he was the co-founder and CEO of Streamlio that focused on building next generation event processing infrastructure using Apache Pulsar and led the acquisition of Streamlio by Splunk. Before Streamlio, he was the engineering manager and technical lead for real-time infrastructure at Twitter where he co-created Twitter Heron. Twitter Heron was open sourced and used by several companies. He has two decades of experience working with companies such as Teradata, Greenplum, and Juniper in their rapid growth stages building parallel databases, big data infrastructure, and networking. He co-founded Locomatix, a company that specializes in real-time streaming processing on Hadoop and Cassandra using SQL, which was acquired by Twitter. Karthik has a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a focus on big data and databases. During his college tenure several of the research projects he participated were later spun off as a company acquired by Teradata. Karthik is the author of several publications, patents, and a popular book "Network Routing: Algorithms, Protocols and Architectures."

Constance is a Principal Software Engineer for Splunk, formerly at Omnition, contributing to OpenTelemetry with code and as a member of the governance committee. She is also Kubecon Co-Chair for the 2020 events. Previously, Constance worked at Lyft as part of the data platform and server networking teams. While at Lyft, Constance built, deployed, and configured Envoy internally, and maintained the open source project. Constance believes what makes open source projects successful are the communities and the diverse voices that join the conversation. She looks forward to collaborating with you to accelerate OpenTelemetry and build a strong community.

Steve Flanders is Director of Engineering at Splunk responsible for Observability “Getting Data In”, which includes contributions to the CNCF OpenTelemetry open-source project. Previously, he was the Head of Product and Experience at Omnition, which was acquired by Splunk. Prior to Omnition, he was the Global Engineering Manager for log analytics and data collection at VMware. Steve has an extensive background in software development, user experience, product design, and operational management. He has a strong focus on product usability, data-driven decision making, and agile development processes. He is also the author of SFlanders.net, a technology-centric weblog.

Francis Bogsanyi is a Technical Lead at Shopify responsible for distributed tracing and performance tooling. He previously led the team owning Redis and Memcached infrastructure at Shopify. Francis built and Open Sourced a Lua implementation in Go and leveraged it to build Shopify's scriptable load generation tool, Genghis. He is a major contributor to the Ruby implementation of OpenTelemetry.

Prior to Shopify, Francis was a Java Virtual Machinist on the J9 team at IBM. Past lives include several failed startups in wireless sensor mesh networking and hapto-visual virtual environments.

Chad Tripod is a Senior Development Engineer at Armoy. He has 15+ years of large scale application / service delivery. He is responsible for Production Deployment Projects with some of the largest cloud properties in the world ensuring that millions of users and devices can connect with their most beloved applications and services, taking into consideration the ever evolving market of the mobile user and the mirroring growth within the DataCenter to make those services available, secure, and optimized.

Mark Gritter is the Vault Advisor at Hashicorp, his third startup experience. Previously, Mark co-founded Tintri, an enterprise storage company, in 2008 and helped grow it to a 2017 IPO. Before that he worked at Kealia, a video streaming startup acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2004.

Darshana Sivakumar is a Senior Product Manager on the Vault team at HashiCorp, focusing on data and core projects. She was previously part of big data and machine learning teams at AWS. She is passionate about all things data and is excited about the intersection of security and intelligence to provide rich observability and recommendation use cases. Darshana holds a masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University.

Charles Pretzer is a field engineer at Buoyant, where he spends his time collaborating and engaging with the open source community of the CNCF service mesh, Linkerd. He also enables production adoption by helping companies integrate Linkerd into their Kubernetes based applications. Charles has spoken at meetups and conferences hosted by ABN Amro, Macnica, and NGINX Conf. When he's not presenting or in front of a computer, he's riding a motorcycle or making a delicious mess in the kitchen.

Currently providing technical evangelism for Splunk, Dave is working with DevOps, developers and architects to understand the advantages of modern microservice architectures and orchestration needed in distributed systems, especially for today's fast-moving cycles. Dave has been a champion for open systems and open source from the early days of Linux, through open distributed file systems like XFS, GFS, and GlusterFS to today's world of clouds and containers. He often covers topics such as the real-world issues associated with emerging software architectures and practices, on open source software and on creating new technology companies.

Dave has spoken on technical topics like observability, distributed tracing, monitoring in a microservices environment, IOT messaging standards and how scale impacts IoT decisions. He’s also covered broader areas like marketing in an open source world and building communities for developers.

Amélie E. Koran served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and most recently as Chief Technology Officer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General prior to her current role as Senior Technology Advocate at Splunk. However, Amélie’s path prior to today took her the long way around − through multiple industry sectors, academia, and the public sector. Her professional experience includes time spent at The Walt Disney Company, Carnegie Mellon University’s CERT/CC, Mandiant, The World Bank, Constellation Energy (now Exelon) and The American Chemical Society. She began her time in the public sector as Lead Enterprise Security Architect for the U.S. Department of the Interior, eventually moving on to lead Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation implementation for the U.S. Treasury Department. Amélie later spent time on a leadership development rotation as part of the President’s Management Council Fellowship serving the Federal CIO in supporting cybersecurity policy analysis and legislative review, where she took an active role in the government-wide Open Data Initiative and helped in giving “birth” to the United States Digital Service (USDS). She’s an ardent advocate for innovative approaches to hiring talent and rationally applying security strategies and technologies for the public and private sector.

Brian Fox is a software developer, innovator and entrepreneur. He is an active contributor within the open source development community, most prominently as a member of the Apache Software Foundation and former Chair of the Apache Maven project. Brian’s contributions to the open source development community include creation of Nexus repository manager, maven-dependency-plugin, and maven-enforcer-plugin. He is most well-known for his role as the CTO and co-founder of Sonatype.
In his role at Sonatype, he is focused on building a platform for developers and DevOps professionals to build high-quality, secure applications with open source components.

Deepak has guided Puppet’s technical development and longer-term technical strategy since joining the company in 2011. He has overseen the development of nearly every major product in Puppet's portfolio including Puppet Enterprise, PuppetDB, Bolt, Wash, and Nebula. Deepak brings nearly 20 years of experience creating new products, building engineering teams, and operating infrastructure. Prior to Puppet, he was an early engineer at Dell/MessageOne, helping architect and operate their hosted products. Deepak has a particular fondness for functional programming, autonomous systems, novel programming languages, 1980's/1990's cartoons, and just about every action movie ever made.
